Steve Ostrow’s unbridled exuberance for his entertainment let to being featured in an Emmy award winning PBS TV 45/49 documentary #Shortcuts to Happiness” on the life of a musician.  Originally from San Diego, he has been a member of the violin section of the Akron Symphony since 1989.  Known for unusual versatility on many instruments, Steve has performed with the ASO on trombone, soloed as guitarist and once appeared as a dancer.

Steve soloed and performed extensively in Venezuela (Caracas Philharmonic) for seven years, where he first learned guitar.  He gravitated later to the violin, learning the art of strolling violin on the streets of Europe.  He currently performs on electric violin with Shameless Country(Fox 8’s 2008 band of the year), and plays trombone, trumpet, violin, tsimbl, and classical guitar with the Yiddishe Cup Klezmer Band. He soloed with the Cleveland Pops (trombone) and passes his love of music to his students at the Old Trail School (Bath, Ohio) through his arrangements.
