The band's concept and development began in Chicago and Detroit where Art had success before beginning a Cleveland group in 1988. The group is identified as an exclusive collection of Northeast Ohio's top musicians teamed together to bring the best in live music of varying styles to the special events market. The Art Company Orchestra performs "Classic American Hits from the 1940's to today".
Careers of these talented musicians include the recording industry, international touring, television appearances, etc. Many of the band's members have gained national attention as back-up or recording musicians with artists such as Stevie Wonder, Oscar Peterson, Ray Charles, Blood Sweat and Tears, and many other greats.
The orchestra features vocalist Marsha DiAnna Newman. Her great vocal style embraces Jazz, Big Band to Blues & R & B, and mimics of rock & pop hits she performs so effortlessly. Her soulful voice engages the audience to continue listening and be amazed and entertained by her wonderful ability to cross so many well known styles brought to us by the American singer.
Through a high standard of musicianship, the company's focus is musical quality and versatility, and a flair for the creative. With great expectations for each event they perform, and a sincere regard for each client, the band has thrilled audiences since their inception. The Art Company has set a new standard in "dance band" and "party entertainment".
Their incredible repertoire includes Big Band, Jazz Standards, Swing, Bop, Rock 'n' Roll Classics from each decade, a Motown Review, '70's '80's and '90's Hits, showcases of Disco, Country, and Latin- American and something called "beach music". The band is constantly adding new Top 40 material to the song list. Members of the band also break-out into classical ensembles and jazz combos for use at other times in the course of an event. The company can range in size from 5 pieces to 19 pieces, and are supported by a professional sound and lighting crew for gigs using the larger size band.
